One of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket
Kamala Beach with its white powdery sand and its turquoise waters is one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket. In the last years the beach has become popular place for families, and retirees staying for a long-term in some apartments rentals. The beach is nestled in a bay between the famous Patong Beach and the charming Surin Beach.
Kamala beach is quite long, fringed with green palm trees and tall pines. Perfect for relax during the day, under the trees by the sea. The sand is soft and powdery but in the northern part is a bit grainy.
During high season the water is very calm and clear assuming a blue deep color. Moreover, in this season there are not currents so, it is perfect for swimming and for snorkeling. Beach loungers and umbrellas are back in some parts of the beach. So, you are free to choose your favorite spot to stay.
At the center of the beach there are many small Thai restaurants, bars, and massages set all along the beach. During high season this area is very popular by tourists. Recently Pine Beach Bar, Cafè del Mar and HQ Beach Clubs opened at the northern part of the beach just close to the Novotel Kamala Beach resort.
Kamala beach offers beach activities. Among the most popular as parasailing and some inevitable noisy jet ski. There are, even though, paddle boards and kayaks at a good price. In fact, these are the most requested!
What to do in Kamala Beach
Kamala Beach offers some choice of activities all year round. For sure snorkeling in the northern end of the beach just in front of Novotel Kamala Beach resort. The seabed is great and rocky, but it is not very deep! From December to April/May is the best moment to practice snorkeling because sea is very calm and clear. During these months surf is not practiced because there are no winds from the west. Furthermore, paddle board is very required! Parasailing and of course Jet ski are present all year-round, and it is easy to find them.
Lately I’ve noticed that it is possible to go horseback riding along the beach, but I did not have yet the chance to ask some info. Kamala has few sightseeing attractions apart from the beach. It features a good choice of things to do that range from visiting the Fresh Market to the Phuket Fantasea located just opposite the market. Furthermore, the market will be held every Monday and Friday all year round. Visiting also the Kamala temple and all small shops and restaurants nearby.
Recently Cafè Del Mar and HQ Beach clubs opened just close to the Novotel Kamala Beach resort. These beach clubs have become a real tourist attraction, especially for young people. Next to these Beach clubs there is the newest chic Pine Beach Bar at the Intercontinental Phuket resort. It looks so relaxing, try it.
Sunbathing and reading a book is the best way to spend a day in total relaxation. Furthermore, taking a nice walk on the shore is refreshing and is also good for your health. Kamala viewpoint worth a visit. Because this is the only spot where you have a beautiful view of the entire Kamala bay. So, do not miss it and bring your own camera with you!
Where to dining in Kamala Beach
The main source of lunch and dinner towards the center of Kamala beach is many beachfront restaurants. They serve mainly Thai and International dishes by the sea. However, they serve also good international breakfast at a good price.
At the north end of Kamala beach the luxury beach clubs Cafè del Mar Phuket, HQ Beach Lounge and Pine Beach Bar both of which serve a very good International food. Further north than that, you will find the exclusive Soul Kitchen restaurant at Novotel Kamala Beach Resort, opened to the public and not only for the guests. Their all day dining venue, serves a full range of delicious Western, Thai and Italian cuisine.
For a more fine dining experience there are a few places worth trying, including some restaurants with a nice sea view: Sunset Grill at Hyatt Regency Phuket, Plum Premium Steakhouse at Cape Sienna and Silk at Andara Phuket resort.
