Laem Sing Beach ⛱️ Phuket Hidden Gem (2026 Guide)
Discovering Laem Sing Beach: Phuket’s Best-Kept Secret
Laem Sing Beach, a secluded, picturesque cove located on the west coast between Kamala and Surin Beach in Phuket. It takes only a single look from above to understand why Laem Sing Beach consistently ranks as one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket. For years, this breathtaking paradise was a jewel in the island’s tourism crown. However, a sudden land access dispute left the access closed since April 2017, and to the casual tourist, the beach seemingly vanished from the map overnight.
Yet, for those who refuse to let a little mystery stop them, this stunning destination remains accessible—you just have to know how to find it. Famed for its crystal-clear waters and lush jungle backdrop, this “hidden gem” is only accessible by taking a local longtail boat or walking along a scenic, rocky coastal trail.
How to Get to Laem Sing Beach
The secret to reaching this untouched paradise with white sand and swaying palm trees lies in understanding that there are 2 ways to get to Laem Sing Beach today. Because the convenient land access has been closed by private property since that fated April 2017, travelers must choose their own adventure from the southern end of neighboring Surin Beach.
By Boat: For just ฿100 each round trip, you can jump aboard and experience a short, exhilarating ride around the rocky coastline. Note: This boat service operates exclusively during the high season, from November to April, when the seas are calm enough for safe docking. As the boat rounds the final jagged cliff, the jungle parts to reveal the pristine shores of Laem Sing Beach. Stepping off the boat into the knee-deep, warm water feels less like a typical beach day and more like discovering an uncharted island. Because of this unique obstacle, the crowds are gone. On many days, you might share the entire golden shoreline with only a handful of other travelers.
From Kamala Beach: To rent a private traditional longtail boat for a group of 4 people from Kamala Beach to Laem Sing Beach, they can expect a total charter cost of approximately 1,000 to 1,500 THB for a round-trip journey. Before jumping on the boat, it is best to agree on the price with the boatman to avoid any misunderstandings!
By Foot: You can hike from the south end of Surin Beach, where the trail begins. The walk takes about 20 minutes and requires scrambling over boulders, but it offers fantastic sea views along the way. Aim for low or mid-tide, as high tide makes the rocks dangerously slippery. Use the App “Tides” to check out the tide level.
A Day in Paradise: Sun, Snorkeling, and Total Serenity
Once your feet hit the soft, powdery sand of Laem Sing Beach, the rest of the world completely disappears. The beach is flanked by massive boulders that create a sense of absolute isolation. Tall palms lean over the sand, offering natural pockets of shade where you can curl up with a good book or simply listen to the gentle sea sound.
If you love exploring underwater life, this is your sanctuary. The rocky headlands at both ends of the bay are teeming with marine biodiversity. Grab your mask and snorkel to swim alongside schools of vibrant parrotfish, schools of small fish, and intricate coral formations in the exceptionally clear shallows.
Unlike Phuket’s heavily commercialized spots, you won’t find roaring jet skis, vendors, or rows of loud beach clubs here. In fact, there are no sunbeds on the beach, (sunbeds are not allowed) allowing the shoreline to remain entirely untouched. Instead, Laem Sing Beach offers a nostalgic throwback to what Phuket used to be decades ago: peaceful, raw, and jaw-droppingly beautiful.
The best time to visit Laem Sing Beach is during the high season from December to April. During these months, the sea is perfectly calm, clear, and ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Conversely, it is highly recommended to avoid swimming during the low season from May to October due to rough seas and strong currents, especially since there are no lifeguards on duty.
💡 Local Tip: If you get hungry or need to cool off, there is a fantastic restaurant perched right on the cliff. It serves delicious local food and cold drinks at very affordable prices, complete with a stunning view of the bay.
