15 Best Cafés in Phuket: Instagrammable & Secret Spots
Discovering the Best Cafes in Phuket
Best cafes in Phuket started evolving rapidly right after the COVID-19 period, growing significantly in number over time.
Over the years, I have personally visited countless spots and taken photos of these incredible locations myself, watching a vibrant café scene emerge from the historic streets of Thalang, Dibuk, and Yaowarad in Phuket Old Town to remote scenic hillsides across the island.
Having lived here for over a decade, I can assure you that these Phuket cafes offer much more than just great food and drinks—they provide incredible atmospheres and unique photo opportunities throughout the day and into the evening.
Instagrammable Cafes in Phuket
Having explored almost every corner of the island, I can assure you these locations are a photographer’s dream, offering some of the most visual and memorable coffee shops in Phuket.
Please note that this list is not complete, as I will continue to add new hidden gems as soon as I visit them! At the bottom of the article, you will find a handy interactive map to help you discover these secret corners filled with delicious treats.
Whether you want to enjoy a specialty coffee in Phuket, savor homemade cakes, or take a relaxing break, I have curated this guide based on my personal experience to help you find the best coffee shops in Phuket.
Zone 1: Phuket Town and Outskirt
Phuket Old Town and its surrounding areas are packed with historic Sino-Portuguese charm, artistic floral interiors, and incredible hilltop viewpoints overlooking the eastern coast. Here are the top spots to explore in this central zone.
Sireha Café Resort and Glamping
Sireha Café is a hidden gem I always recommend when exploring the northern part of Koh Sirey in Phuket. Perched on a hillside, it never fails to impress me with its 180-degree coastal vistas and serene atmosphere.
In my experience, on clear days when there is no humidity, the sight stretches all the way out to Koh Yao Yai, tiny Koh Khai Nok, and even the iconic Phi Phi Islands in the background. It is also a fantastic spot to watch the sunset in Phuket, offering a magical sky as evening approaches.
Right at the foot of the hill leading up to the venue, there is an Elephant Care Camp, making it super convenient to combine a coffee break with a visit to these gentle giants.
It’s one of my favorite scenic spots to sit back with a fresh coffee, enjoy a slice of cake, or grab a quick Thai meal while taking in the ocean breezes. They even have rooms available if you want to stay overnight.

Grind Café Phuket
Grind Café Phuket is an open-air creative space that I really enjoy for its eccentric and relaxed vibe. The atmosphere, a blend of rustic wood and industrial metal furniture—much of it crafted right in the factory below—is truly unique to Phuket Town.

It offers a few rooms to stay and incredible photo setups along the water’s edge, making it one of the most picturesque locations on the west coast, all with very fair prices.

Zone 3: Kata & Karon (South-West Coast)
Nestled along the south-western coast are hidden hillside gems and relaxing beachfront retreats ideal for unwinding after a day at the beach. Here are the must-visit cafes in Kata and Karon.
Hidden Café Phuket
Hidden Café Phuket stands as a charming spot nestled on a hillside near the Karon Viewpoint, boasting a serene ambiance with stunning views of Kata Beach. I actually visited this place back when it was still raw and under construction, and was lucky enough to return right when they opened—before tourists even knew it existed!
As soon as I posted my photos on social media, I received an overwhelming flood of messages asking for its location. In no time, it blew up into a popular hotspot for coffee enthusiasts and foodies eager to document their beautifully presented dishes and drinks.
Featuring bean bags and pink umbrellas on the terrace against the Andaman Sea, it offers an array of hot and cold beverages, Thai dishes, pizza, and desserts. It’s definitely a must-visit spot when you’re around Karon Viewpoint!

Laem Sai Cup Café
Laem Sai Cup is a tranquil oceanfront retreat perched on the rocky headland between Karon Beach and Kata Beach. I love coming here to escape the busy main roads and relax on the shaded bamboo platforms built directly over the crashing waves.
The prices are super low, making it a favorite hideout for younger travelers who want to stay out of the burning sun while enjoying cold drinks and affordable snacks on traditional Thai square cushions.
With its breezy, shaded spots and gorgeous coastal backdrop, it’s a prime location where people love relaxing with the sparkling Andaman sea behind them—easily one of my absolute favorite places in Phuket to unwind.

Elephant Cafe by Tan
Elephant Cafe by Tan is a cozy gem I always recommend along Patak Road in Karon, just a short 250-meter walk from Karon Temple. I first discovered this place while staying at the Paradox Resort nearby; what caught my eye immediately was the traditional statue at the entrance and the striking painted mural of the owner, Tan, near the kitchen.
The bamboo lamps hanging from the plant-covered ceiling, paired with the statue and mural, create an exceptionally warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it especially fantastic for a relaxed dinner.
During my visit, I got to meet Tan in person, who shared with me that most of their fresh ingredients come straight from her own natural farm, ensuring authentic and vibrant flavors.
I tried their delicious stir-fried egg yellow noodles and classic mango sticky rice, taking advantage of the charming decor to frame some great shots. She has built a fantastic menu blending authentic Thai dishes like spicy Som Tam with Western classics like burgers, breakfast bowls, and even Russian specialties.

Zone 4: Thalang, Kathu and North-East Coast
Moving further north, you will discover truly unique tropical spots surrounded by lush nature and extraordinary photo backdrops. This is the most iconic location in the area.
Ma Doo Bua Café
Ma Doo Bua is an iconic destination in the Thalang area that I tell every visitor they must experience at least once. It is the only café in Phuket featuring a giant pond filled with massive Victoria water lilies, making it a unique background for photography at any time of day.
On my very first visit, I was completely amazed when I saw these giant, round green leaves floating right on the surface of the water—a sight I had never seen before in my life! I didn’t wait a single second and immediately found a strategic spot to capture a top-notch photo. The venue features an outdoor terrace complete with a suspended net right over the water, designed specifically for guests to relax above the lilies.
During my visit, I ordered their unique spicy herbal mojito along with their signature crispy fried lotus stems served with a flavorful dipping sauce—a delicious combination that perfectly matches the tropical atmosphere. Over time, the place has become extremely popular and is often crowded, especially on weekends. I always enjoy relaxing here and savoring their Southern Thai fusion dishes while taking in a backdrop you simply won’t find anywhere else in Phuket.

Zone 5: Chalong, Rawai & Panwa Area
The serene southern and eastern coastlines offer peaceful, rustic wooden terraces away from the crowds. Here is my top choice in the Panwa and Chalong area.
View Café at Phuket
View Café at Phuket offers an unforgettable hilltop experience located high on the hill in Chalong, boasting breathtaking vistas facing the east side. Recognized as one of the best cafes in Phuket, guests are welcomed by two vibrant vintage cars—a red Beetle and a yellow camper van—parked at the entrance. Inside the cafe, warm lighting, crystal chandeliers, floral decor, and cozy seating create an inviting atmosphere before leading out to an open-air balcony.
Here, visitors can indulge in delicious food while admiring unmatched panoramic views stretching across Chalong Bay and Cape Panwa. Featuring 12 charming rooms on site for travelers looking to unwind longer, the cafe’s blend of tranquil surroundings, fine dining, and boutique accommodation places it among the top spots on the island.

Tarzan Seaside Café
Tarzan Seaside Café is a hidden wooden terrace built on a hillside near Khao Khad Viewpoint that I love visiting for a quiet afternoon. Looking out over Khao Khad Beach and Chalong Bay, I find it to be the perfect peaceful spot to enjoy a cold frappe, a sweet dessert, or a tasty Thai meal away from the crowded tourist areas.
During my visit, I intentionally shot photos using a large banana leaf above as a natural frame: the raw wooden terrace, complete with cozy seating and hanging hammocks, sits right on the edge of the lush hillside overlooking the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Chalong Bay and the surrounding green hills—with the iconic Big Buddha sitting atop Nakkerd Hill visible in the distance. It’s a fantastic place to visit during the daytime even if it’s warm, or right at sunset when the light over the bay turns magical.
For those seeking a bit of adventure, there is also a fun zipline located right behind the restaurant for the braver visitors!
