Karon beach is Phuket’s longest and most popular beach, located between Patong and Kata beach on the west coast of the island. This beach is very easy to reach by car or motorbike, taxi or bus. Plenty of parking space is available on the road along the shoreline and near Karon lake.
The beach is nicely spread out on 3 km and rarely feels crowded so you probably won’t know where you place your beach towel the first time you reach it. The sand of Karon is so powdery it squeaks when you walk on it…I bet you’ll hear it.
This beach also has several areas offering beach loungers and umbrellas serviced by drink vendors. You will be able to enjoy some water activity such as jet ski, parasailing, beach volley, surf and paddle board (these are mostly popular during the green season).
The sea during low season is often rough with high waves and strong currents fed by wind from the southwest. When sea is rough It can be prohibited to swim on some parts of the beach, clearly indicated by red flags! During high season the large beach of Karon looks like a tropical paradise with calm and clear blue water without currents. A perfect place for all of those who love to do snorkeling, swimming and relaxing on the shore…
Karon beach is one of my favorite Phuket beaches for several good reasons. Taking photos when the sky is blue and during colorful sunsets is the first reason, and the second is just to be here to relax and admire the ocean. See you in Phuket and have a nice holiday!
