The Slate Phuket Resort
The Slate Phuket on Nai Yang Beach
The Slate Phuket is a prestigious hotel on Nai Yang beach set on a big property with a unique and rare design. At our check-in we were amazed by the countless details and, it was only the reception. We couldn’t wait to visit it at all.
This superb 5-star hotel is plenty of beautiful details and, this idea came from the famous and designer Bill Bensley.
Phuket International airport is just located at some minutes driving by and the lush Nai Yang beach is just a few steps from the resort. Nai Yang beach is perfect for all of those love to stay in total relax and peace. For those who come here, certainly do not look for a busy life as Patong nightlife, or the center of Karon beach, but a quiet life obviously!
The Slate Phuket does have 3 restaurants, Black Ginger, Tim Mine and Rivet. 4 bars: Tanghka Tin Syndicate, Underground Café and Dirty Monstera. They are a must-try! The Slate offer to the guests 6 type rooms, 3 big swimming pools with a fantastic design. Of course, also 2 tennis courts, a well-equipped and large Fitness room. An award-winning Spa obviously but, which 5-star hotels does not have one nowadays.
The Slate Phuket is a hotel awarded by Thailand’s Safety & Health Administration SHA Plus+ certification from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The Rooms
We stayed for a couple nights in a very well-designed suite (Pearl Shell Suite). With 132 sqm the suite was surprisingly large and full of original details.
Pearl Shell Suite offers 3 different rooms: Big bedroom with a king-size bed with the oversize bathtub. A spacious living room and a massage beds en-suite room including 2 beds for massage. The toilet and shower are separate, and there is a big storage for your suitcases. 2 big flat-screen TV with a lot of channels are in the suite, one in living room and another in the bedroom. I found many sockets and of course the WI-FI connection was very fast.
This suite had all the amenities you can expect from a 5-star resort. There was everything we need, and nothing was missing. The balcony is very big with table and large sofa offering a nice view to the Family pool and to the Rivet restaurant.
Restaurants
The Slate features 3 well-known restaurants superbly designed.
– Black Ginger: serves authentic Thai food.
– Tim Mine: serves International and Thai food.
– Rivet: serves Japanese food.
Black Ginger restaurant
Black Ginger is probably the best Thai restaurant in Phuket located over a luminescent lagoon.
Black Ginger received a Michelin Plate rating from the new Michelin Plate for Phuket. Michelin Plate is the sign of excellent food.
The passage to reach the Black Ginger lagoon is lit by blue lights hidden behind war shields fixed in the wall. You will be thrilled to walk through this passage before reaching the spot lagoon. Arrived at the spot lit by real torches, you will see the restaurant over the lagoon but, how to reach it?
We were welcomed into a wooden stable raft lit with torches…then the staff began to pull a rope silently to reach the restaurant across the lagoon. We were excited because it was our first beautiful experience to witness this.
The restaurant consist three Thai houses dining outdoor or indoor. It is all dark or probably painted black, but the light distribution creating a very romantic and unique atmosphere.
We tried SET SHARING MENU 1200 THB per person ++ including many Thai dishes and it was a very good choice for us! Appetizers, soup, main dish and dessert was included in the menu.
We had a fantastic experience and unforgettable dinner at the Black Ginger. We ate an excellent and REAL Thai food that we had never tried before in Phuket. Staff were very talented, professional, and polite with us.
Unfortunately that night we did not have the opportunity to meet chef Piak, the guardian of Black Ginger to do a big congratulations. Anyway this is a good reason for coming back to the Black Ginger again because it must-try!
The restaurant open at 6.30 pm so do not miss a chance to be there at sunset as we did, because the atmosphere at that time is surreal. The restaurant is getting very popular, so reservations are recommended!
Tin Mine restaurant
Tin Mine is a main restaurant where we had a rich breakfast every morning. We were amazed about big was the breakfast, with a lot of food choice! The open air restaurant is located a few steps from lobby and all was prepared with a unique detailed setting even in the table sets. We had a great dinner at Tin Mine. International and Thai food was excellent.
Rivet & Rebar
We hadn’t time to try Rivet restaurant and Rebar near the Family pool because we stayed 2 nights only. I had a chance to take just a photo at Rivet Japanese restaurant early, but after some minutes it was almost full. It is on our list for the next visit at The Slate obviously!
Tongkah Tin Syndacate
Tongkah Tin Syndacate is a bar where you can order rare whiskies or cocktails. Of course, this bar is full of details and I advise to try it about 5-6 pm for the happy hour time. You will remain shocked about his beauty. So enjoy!
Coqoon Spa
The Slate Coqoon is an award-winning spa located in a quiet area just near the reception hidden from some trees. Spa treatment does not come cheap, but I didn’t say they are expensive! For all spa lovers there is a well-designed nest treatment room, but you should book in advance if you’d like to get a massage here, because it is very requested!
Stockroom
The stockroom is surprisingly a nice boutique plenty of unique items. Furthermore, you can buy these original objects. There are so many articles that you don’t even know where to start looking for and where to end! Do not miss it!
The Slate on Nai Yang beach
The Slate hotel is on a lush Nai Yang beach, so, you don’t need to take a car to reach this beach. It’s located just a few steps from your room by walking in no time. The beach offers beach chairs and umbrellas at 100THB or you can stay in a free area under the trees or in the shore.
You will find a lot of local food vendors on the street at a cheap price. So, you should try some food! If you love dining on Nai Yang beach, this is the right place you are looking for. There are some seafood restaurants right on the beach at a good price. So do not miss a chance to get a romantic dinner by the sea!
